Ho Chi Minh City police have dismantled a major regional drug trafficking operation by arresting 65 suspects, including 10 foreign nationals from multiple Southeast Asian countries, according to authorities on Saturday. The network was systematically infusing the anaesthetic drug Etomidate into e-cigarette liquid and distributing the contaminated products to customers throughout Vietnam and across international borders. Among those detained are four Singaporeans, four Malaysians and two Taiwanese nationals, marking a significant cross-border enforcement success for Vietnamese drug authorities.

The investigation identified Malaysian national Hoo Jia How, aged 30, and Singaporean Melvin Tan Junjie, also 30, as the principal organisers behind the entire operation.
