Malaysia's military has halted all hand-grenade training exercises across the country while authorities accelerate their investigation into a training accident in Kedah, the Defence Ministry confirmed.

The Malaysian Army has suspended all hand grenade training activities following a fatal blast at Hobart Camp in Kedah that killed two personnel. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced the immediate halt will remain in effect until a comprehensive investigation is completed.
Private Siti Khadijah Sungip, 24, was killed during a grenade exercise at Hobart Camp in Gurun, Kedah. The youngest of seven children, she had joined the Malaysian Army to continue her retired soldier father's military legacy.
Private Siti Khadijah Sungip, 24, of the Malaysian Army's Royal Engineer Regiment, was buried in Kluang following her death in a training accident at Hobart Camp, Kedah. A fellow serviceman also perished in the explosion.
